Lesson Prices

More About Our Prices

Did you know that about 30% of all learner drivers that come to QA Motoring School are switching driving instructor during their learning to drive process? I’d urge you to spend a couple minutes of your time reading this small segment to find out why.

Lack of Progress

The main reason is due to lack of progress being made in lessons. I’ve lost count at how many pupils have come to me over the years since 2008 who have spent the first 10-20hrs of lessons on quiet estate roads when they have felt ready to be going onto larger main roads. This is because their driving instructor is following a regimented syllabus rather than adapting to the learner's ability. This is very costly as it substantially extends your learning period and eats away into your hard-earned money and lifelong savings!!

At QA Motoring School, we use a client-centered approach which is recommended by the DVSA (these are the people who conduct the driving test and give you a licence!) This means that the pupils who have transferred over to us from another driving instructor have benefitted from interactive lessons which allows them to have a big say in how lessons are conducted. This policy eliminates many frustrations that students encounter with large amounts of time parked at the kerbside and endless hours of aimless driving around with no firm lesson objective.

QA Motoring School uses an Accelerated Learning System (ALS), which as the name suggests, is in place to speed up your learning period and ensure you receive full value for your money. Your driving instructor will ask for your feedback on every driving lesson to make sure that you’re happy with the service and tuition offered. Instructor wasn’t fully qualified

This may come as a shock to you, but did you know that not all driving instructors are fully qualified? One thing to make you aware of is the fact driving schools often sell driving lessons to pupils knowing that the instructor they’re providing to teach them is only part trained. That's the equivalent of paying for a meal at The Ritz, then being served a McDonalds Happy Meal!! I’m going to take a stab in the dark and assume this is something that would infuriate you.

Now please don’t think I'm saying anything bad about new driving instructors here. We all had to start somewhere, and I actively support new instructors myself when they need help. But I do believe you should be made aware of what you’re getting at the time of purchase. I mean, I love a Chicken McNuggets meal as much as the next person, but only if I'm paying what they’re worth.

With that in mind, you can rest assured that any driving instructor who represents the QA Motoring School brand will not only be fully qualified, but they will also be an A-Grade instructor, the highest skill level accredited by the DVSA themselves. This means you will be taught by an industry leading driving instructor! You can see proof of Matt Whatley’s grade on the official .gov website by clicking here. (if you click that link and enter your postcode, note how many other instructors will not advertise their scores. You can make your own assumptions as to why not...)

Didn’t like the tuition vehicle

Cars can be compared to supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc. They all do the same thing but can feel a little different when inside them! Not all cars feel smooth to drive and many pupils simply can’t get to grips with basic car control such as finding the biting point in certain vehicles. This obviously isn't ideal when learning to drive and can not only put students off carrying on the learning process but can also cost more in extra lessons just to get used to the car!

Here at QA Motoring School, you will only drive top of the range cars!! Currently, if you choose to learn with us, you’ll be learning in a fully loaded Ford Fiesta eco boost. Not only are the pedals easier to control than most other vehicles due to their smooth feel, but the car also comes with features such as anti-stall, reversing camera, parking sensors and has superb all around vision to make manouvres easier than ever before. The perfect car to take your driving test in to help you pass first time!

Summary

Hopefully, I have been able to enlighten you as to why driving lesson prices vary enormously and explain why Driving Instructors are not all the same. Purchasing what appear to be ‘cheap’ lessons and a good deal is tempting, especially when on a tight budget, but like most things in life, there is often a hidden cost to cheap and that is quite often a much longer learning period, frustration at the lack of progress and the expense of a failed driving test and having to take further lessons.
